The Middle River
As the Wicomico draws further inland from the Chesapeake, turbidity becomes minimal. About 30 kilometers up river lies the city of Salisbury, which serves as the third largest commercial port in the state of Maryland. In downtown Salisbury lies one of Perdue's chicken processing plants, which plays a large role in the use of agricultural land within the Wicomico's watershed. The types of land-use, mixed with the processes of the river, factors into how the river gets polluted.
How does the land use around the middle Wicomico factor into its pollution? What role do city impermeable surfaces, storm water, and agricultural runoff play?

What is dredging? Why is it done? What effect can it have on the river and its ecosystems?

What are the different types of edges found around the Wicomico? How are these important to the river and its processes?
